BMS Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I have bought several pairs of speakers that have a sicker on the back that covers a pole vent. should i remove it for cooling?. if the speaker is IB and or made for lowish frequency reproduction i typically leave it on due to that I thought it could be some sort of restriction of excursion due to air pressure built up within the vent through the coil and in the dust cap however it wouldn't be a sealed chamber it could still cause restriction.
audiofanaticz Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 What speakers are you talking about that have a sticker on the back of the magnet? Not every speaker has a pole vent.I find it hard to believe that a manufacture would put stickers over the pole vent of their speakers hindering performance.
BMS Posted August 18, 2016 Author Report Posted August 18, 2016 i have had this with many my massive audio 4x6 my infinity kappa 5 1/4 and 6 1/2 and my distinct audio 6.5 neo mids. just to name a few.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I think you're thinking they have a pole vent when they do not. Post some pictures of the speakers in question. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
BMS Posted August 18, 2016 Author Report Posted August 18, 2016 i have poked a hole in both the massive audios and the infinity and they are pole vents but on the neo mids that was just an assumption.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Just because there is a hole it doesn't mean it's a pole vent. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
BMS Posted August 18, 2016 Author Report Posted August 18, 2016 ok fair enough but it runs all the way through the magnet (which i believe makes it a pole vent but i could be wrong). seems silly to drill a hole for no reason in an area where increasing magnetic force would likely cause greater efficiency in most cases.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Post some pictures so we can see what you are talking about. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Kyblack76 Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 whats a "pole vent" ???? SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
BMS Posted August 18, 2016 Author Report Posted August 18, 2016 well the 4x6 are in my doors the 6 1/2's are accessible but i think i described it fairly well the hole goes all the way through the magnet if you unscrew the tweeter on the kappas (The screw does NOT run threw the magnet) you can see the inside of the coil and the hole which goes all the way threw the magnet. I removed the tweeter to relocate it and added a dust cap if you look through the hole in the magnet now you see the dust cap.
