DLHgn Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 I would try to meet up with someone who has a DD-1 or an O-Scope to make sure you're sending a clean signal. It could be glue (being hopeful) but it could also be you cooking your coils. Hopefully it's not that and it's just the subs breaking in but better safe than sorry.

Wasteland_Audio Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 I completely seized a type r because of a dirty signal back in the day. Didn't notice the smell because it was in the trunk. But when i went to check it wreaked like glue and voice coil.

I probably just overpowering him a little.. mostly on bass songs it starts to smell a little bit but with normal songs no problems and even when start to smell then i turn down a little till smell goes away.

Yeah, giving a sub twice it's rated power can get the coil stinking. I would still suggest kicking down the gain, even if it's not clipping.
