BMS Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 THREW A 15 IN PREFAB BOX 1/2 INCH HAD MAJOR FLEX. IS 3/4 INCH THICK ENOUGH? SUB IS 400 RMS AND HAS 25 MM TWO WAY XMAX. SHOULD I ADD SUPPORTS?

A double layer baffle is generally a good idea, but in your low power application its probably not needed, but certainly wouldn't hurt. How much bracing you should have depends on the size of the panels. audiofanaticz Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 Prefab boxes often have flex because they are held together only by the silicon smeared around the inside corners and the carpet that is wrapped on the outside. Often times there is no woodglue or fasteners of any kind used on prefab boxes. A properly built box out of 3/4 inch mdf would be fine with minimal to no bracing judging by your subwoofers specs.
