BMS Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 I have a friend who built his box wrong he has a slotted port for half of its length it is 2 by 13.5 and for the other half it is 1 by 13.5 could someone explain what this would mean please and thank you also the net volume is 1.6 cubs and the total port length is 21.
Joe X Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 If this is for a 12" you would likely get excessive airspeed on the 1x13.5 section, that's a choked port for all practical matters so you will experience loss of output, if you are using a low power 10" sub you most likely experience a tuning difference from what was calculated, Hornresp could be useful to model that.
BMS Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 Its a 12 300 wrms jl w1v3. yeah i calculated 49 hz way off what it is supposed to be.
Krakin Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Makes your boundary layer stupid to predict. Therefore you uninterrupted zone of airflow isn't as large as it could be for the space taken up by the port. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 The narrow section will cause the tuning to be at a lower frequency than predicted. If the box is already built, I would try it. I'm sure it will do something. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
