Smashleytulsa Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 I have a 2000 Silverado single cab that I have built a custom box for with two tens . I just bought Audiopipe apcl-30001d and I am about to buy two skar audio ddx10 and I have a powersafe 12v190f battery.. the battery in my truck is an interstate and I am about to do big 3 and have all 1/0 gauge wire.. do I need a battery isolator? What would be best?
Kyblack76 Posted December 16, 2016 Report Posted December 16, 2016 Nope SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold

Smashleytulsa Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 So how should I hook it up?.. I don't even know where I'll put the thing.. it weighs 130 lbs.. everything that I have read says to use a battery isolator because these are two totally different batteries and will cause infighting and premature battery drain
Smashleytulsa Posted December 17, 2016 Author Report Posted December 17, 2016 I would like to keep the Interstate Battery under my hood for now and use this crazy ass powersafe battery somehow
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 Ideally you should connect the batteries in parallel if they are the same kind. The resting voltage of wet cells and AGMs is different so the manufacturers recommend not to hook them together. That being said, there are several people here that have done so without problems. You should do a search because there are several threads here on this topic. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
reedal Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 the battery with the lower resting voltage will drain on the higher resting battery until their voltages are level, which will potentially shorten the life of the (originally) higher resting battery. Besides that, nothing bad will happen as long as you fuse the positive near both batteries and don't short the positive to ground. Smashleytulsa Posted December 18, 2016 Author Report Posted December 18, 2016 Ok awesome.. I mean I've been doing this for a while but I've never messed with 2 batteries and the powersafe battery I have I cannot find any information about it other than it's 190 ah and it is huge and weighs 130 pounds.. is it even worth the trouble to have two batteries? This is a $600 battery but I would almost rather just do big 3 and possibly alt if I need it..
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted December 18, 2016 Report Posted December 18, 2016 Those amps are power hungry. I would do the battery and the big 3 and an HO alt. 91 C350 Centurion conversion ( Four Door One Ton Bronco) 250A Alternator (Second Alternator Coming Soon) G65 AGM Up Front / Two G31 AGM in Back Pioneer 80PRS CT Sounds AT125.2 / CT Sounds 6.5 Strato Pro component Front Stage CT Sounds AT125.2 / Lanzar Pro 8" coax w/compression horn tweeter Rear Fill FSD 5000D 1/2 ohm (SoundQubed 7k Coming Soon) Two HDS315 Four Qubes Each 34hz (Two HDC3.118 and New Box Coming Soon)
