Already broke a roof support with my current system. 4 ab xfl 1222s on dc5k. Now wanting to make roof stout without losing headliner. First have to fix broken roof support then thinking of putting foam in them and other hollow areas. Then pl premium all the roof supports. And other potential weak points. Then doing 2-3 layers of second skin over the big areas. Was also thinking about gluing some birch to the roof between the supports to make it more solid. Please help first time deadening a roof and doing a build with 10k and don't want to keep breaking stuff. But don't want to loose headliner. hdorre Posted April 11, 2017 Report Share Posted April 11, 2017 i was able to kerf a sheet of 3/4" while fitting my headliner back on. You mentioned that you have roof supports. I would start by putting wood in between each support as well, and go from there. WalledSonic Posted April 11, 2017 Report Share Posted April 11, 2017 I deadened at first not knowing I would need to do a wood roof. I didnt remove the deadening when I added the foam and wood (out of laziness), and I dont think there was a benefit. The roof is so solid with the wood addition that the deadener will be better suited elsewhere in the vehicle.
