BMS
So i bought two stetsom 8k's so i need more batteries i think. Ive been looking at this opzs technology for a little bit. I don't know haw fast they can discharge but regardless even if they can only discharge relatively slow for $430 they have a nominal capacity of 910 a/h and up. certainly good for storing a lot of power. anyone use one of these for any applications other than solar (their intended use)
WalledSonic
Whats the C rate? Your primary concern should be the max amps during charge/discharge per cell. Is there a spec sheet? BMS
Yes forgot to include it. I know the discharge rate is important but so is capacity. i will check for voltage drop to see if i am able to put out enough power for it not to happen excessively. https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-OPzS-batteries-EN.pdf
WalledSonic
Your capacity is useless if it cant be delivered when you want it or recharged quickly during transients. And that fact is made abundantly clear in the Ah rating for the link you sent. Notice as the discharge cycle shortens, so does the Ah rating. Most manufacturers list the C rate, but this one listed the effective total capacity as the discharge time is shortened. if youre charging/discharging on the order of minutes, that 910Ah will be significantly less. Rapid C rates is one of many reasons why people need less Ah of lithium than they would of AGM for the same voltage drop. SkarredSierra
For that price just go xspower. Kinetik is about half that.
audiofanaticz
a low internal resistance is also key Ive tried a bunch of batteries years ago, something like 22 of some smaller sized agm batteries (used in XRAY machines). I lost over 1 db from them. Even with way more reserve and more battery power in general my 2 old school d3100s where still better and louder on the termlab. By old school D3100s I mean the ones that were only 2250 PHCA (pulse hot cranking amps) not the 5000 max amps. These where even before the 3200 max amp rating like the sticker shows (my stickers got ugly and got some new ones from XS and they had a different rating than my current 2 d3100s), Even the AH rating was different from 100ah, to 117ah, and now the new series are 110ah I think. I had 2 rows of 10 stacked on top of each other, thats what it was not 22. I had to dig for some pics or else it would of bugged me. LOL Im not saying it will be the same case with those batteries but it is something to be aware of. Reserve means nothing really if you cant get the juice where it needs to go so if the discharge rate is slow its going to hurt you BIG TIME. That was my issue with the 20 batteries vs the 2 old d3100s
