bigtinybob
my setup right now is a 12" p3 ported with a alpine 500 watt amp.birth sheet says 516..i think the p3 needs more power myself so im looking at 3 amps .my sub is dual 4 ohm http://www.down4soundshop.com/skar-audio-lp-1000-1dv2-monoblock-car-amplifier/ https://soundqubed.com/product/s1-850/ https://www.ctsounds.com/collections/amplifiers/products/t-1000-1d but im also thinking about switching up the p3 to the sundown http://www.down4soundshop.com/SA-Series-Rev.3-12-750-watts-D4/ its my daily driver also so I like to have sq but also get decent loud and low ..the p3 does good but I just dont think the alpine is pushing it hard enough and I seen some post about skar amps and smoke not sure on the reason..whats your all's opinion
Hellbilly429
I would definitely recommend the Sundown SA series subwoofer. It will sound great on even your existing amp (I had mine on an old pioneer 600 watt amp) or you can definitely upgrade to a 1000 watt amp to give you some overhead power. If JP sells the amp (owner of Down4Sound) then you got his word that the product isn't a pile, so no worries there. I'd choose the Skar amp over the other 2 listed, just personal opinion. Your limiting factor here could be the box your P3 is in. If you post pics and dimensions, we could definitely pick if apart and let you know if that's why you're output is lacking. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
Joshdashef
I run 2 p3 d4 12s on a DC 2k in a custom 34 hz / 3.6 net cubed box and they get down. Enough to make my headliner jump up and down like its a kid in a candy shop and to make my rear view mirror fall off! However, if I were to do it again, I would have chosen better subs. Crazy 8s Drums
Maybe you should jump up in power a bit more? If 500w isnt doing it for you, id bet that 750w isnt going to be a big enough jump. It is better to have that extra than not have enough... I like my soundqubed gear so I am a bit biased but the value is big and the boom even bigger! https://soundqubed.com/product/hds3-1-selection/ matched to ... https://soundqubed.com/product/s1-1250/ Orion XTR amplifiers Skar subs

SkarredSierra
Both skar and soundqubed make solid equipment. I personally prefer skar. Ive had both my lp1000.1 and lp60.4 in my durango for over a year with no issues. Theyve always performed and never overheated even tho i have them in my cargo tray with almost 0 airflow. It gets hot in ks. Is over 100 today with heat index. Youll be happy with either brand tho im sure. Sundown is good but for the money id go skar or soundqubed on woofers also. Also keep an eye on ebay. You can pick up skar amps refurbed by skar for cheap. The lp1000.1 is 109 bucks.
bigtinybob
I have mine is the fosgate box I wanna stay away from higher wattage right now but I have heard nothing but good on sundown subs but if I get the sundown at 500 watts is it going to be enough to push it or am I still going to need a bigger amp....if so ill get the amp first and see what the p3 sounds like then if im not impressed ill grab the sa
Hellbilly429
I read through your log on the box. Any idea what model that is? Not sure of size, tuning, and port area of the box. 500 watts will push the SA just fine, but you need to keep in mind that if you buy a D4 sub and want more power, you now need to buy an amp that can push the amount of power at 2 ohms, which can get more expensive. If I were you, I would build a box to specs for the SA sub, drop the P3 in it, see if you're satisfied (will never happen for any basshead ever) and if not, you can buy the SA sub (D2) and an amp that pushes around 1,000 watts at 1 ohm. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
