Big 3 engine ground question

Recommended Posts

How necessary is it to add to the wire going from engine block to chassis? I'mhaving trouble finding mine, not to mention actually running an extra wire there.

I have done the following though:

Extra wire from alt+ to battery+.

Extra wire from battery- to chassis.

Ran a wire from alternator case to battery-.

Alt case to battery is an engine ground....

Glad to hear you say that. I figured it would serve the same purpose, I was just concerned about creating a ground loop by introducing a new parallel path. I suppose since the wire's resistance is negligible,  it shouldn't be a problem.

I was wondering this also the other day, thanks for the information.  Been told alt case to -neg on bat is better than using chasse ground.

Would running a wire straight from the alternator terminal to the amp be a bad idea lol?

Or stick with alt to front bat,  front bat to back bat, back bat to amp?

You need both grounds.

Stick with running to a batt, it acts as a buffer for the system.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
