Depends on what is damaging your hearing, some things damage your hearing immediatly, for me its been kinda wierd my hearing loss has been gradual, I have actually been completly deaf for a couple of weeks after a surgery I had done when I was 19.

low frequencies are not as hard on your hearing as mid to high frequencies according to my Ear, nose and throat specialist,

Tinnitus, maaaan do I know about this subject, I have had tinnitus as Long as I can remember, their are 4 major reasons for getting this.

Tinnitus From Exposure to Noise Cochlear Damage, there are other ways to damage the Cochlear besides loud Noise, dental surgery, sinus surgery, Inner ear infections and alot more.

Stress induced tinnitus Stress its not good for you, not much I can say about this.

Tinnitus Type 3, this is what effects me, I know a great deal about it.

this tinnitus type is referred to normally occurs after prolonged spells of taking antibiotics or antihistamines in an effort to control sinus infections and allergy conditions.(not exactly in my situation)

It is the antibiotics and antihistamines that cause the mucous in the middle ear to become too thick and viscous to easily drain away through the very narrow Eustachian tubes.

Because the mucous in the inner ear is now too thick to easily drain out via the via the very narrow Eustachian tubes, a buildup of mucous in the middle ear occurs.

The resultant pressure in the middle ear often leads to ear infections and tinnitus.

( my Eustachian tubes are fucked up Majorly, they dont drain at all, so you can imagine the kinda pressure I get in my ears sometimes.)

Meniere's Disease I dont know alot about this other than this is what the OOriginal Doctor thought I had, butthis new Doc has told me that the other doc was wrong.

Meniere's Disease is an inner ear disorder that causes one to experience periods of vertigo, dizziness, nausea, ear pressure and tinnitus. It is a chronic condition and often leaves you feeling exhausted.

I dont honestly think Car Audio has effected my hearing at all, and I have been in and around car audio since 1985 when I helped my cousin install his first system, Kraco deck and sparkomatic 6x9's hahahaha.

i do 145 @ 30 HZ  and nothing yet. :D

Yeah but how long has this been going on? Thing is hearing loss won't occur immediately. It takes time to develop. Well that's at least from what I have heard.

Wow David, I didn't know that it could be that bad. It's good to see that car audio isn't what's doing you in though. ;)

Well, I have been into car audio for around 5 years now. Started building my own systems about 4 years ago. I have noticed some minor hearing loss over the past few years but I am pretty sure it comes more from firing the army's 120 mm main gun on the Abrams tank.(That sucker is loud!) I have been firing it about 3-4 times a year for the past few years. I have been around alot of high Db systems and never noticed anything from them. I am hoping it doesn't damage my hearing as I enjoy listening to loud music about as much as anything else I could do.

hearing due to sound is definately in higher frequency only.

for example: have you been to a concert or maybe to a club? well they are playing music at higher frequencies than that of inside of a car. i have never had a buzzing sound from listening to someone vehicle but if i go to a concert i will leave there with a buzing sound that won't go away for hours.

When I got my first system 1-2 years ago, I'd start to notice my hearing not being as good as it could be within 2-4 weeks of listening to music.

After a while, you get use to it and it just gets worst and worst little by little (not hugely noticeable like it was the first time).

I have trouble hearing at certain frequencies now I think*

I was watching Ninja Turtles the other day and there were certain parts of the conversations in the cartoon where I had trouble hearing but other parts it was too loud if I turned it up.

Weird sh!t!
