Having to do with the overpowering of subs.....

 

So I already have a Wolfram 2400.1, and running it at a 2 ohm load, into an 18" Skar EVL, so it's only making about 1300 wts, which kind of bugs me. What's the point of a 2400 wt amp if your only making  half that ?

So, I really need a dual two ohm subwoofer to make a 1 ohm load. Unfortunately, even going with an 18" Skar ZVX, only jumps the power handling up to 1600 rms. How well, if at all, do you think this sub would handle 2400 wts.... Well, it actually tests closer to 2600 wts ???

 

Btw, it doesn't have to be a Skar.... But it does have to be an 18" that works well in 5 cubes. I can easily adjust my tuning to whatever is optimal for the sub. 

My budget is about $400... Maybe $500, if it's a great sub and can handle 2500 wts RMS...

You are not figuring in impedance rise and voltage drop. That amp is not putting out 2400 rms because even at a 1 ohm load the load will jump up way above 1 ohm every time the bass drops and the voltage will drop at the same time, thus never seeing 2400 watts. I will find you a dual 2 ohm subwoofer rated at 1500-2000rms. You don’t need a 2500rms subwoofer. I have a dual 2 ohm 2000rms subwoofer and my amp does 4600rms at 1 ohm. To be honest, that Skar zvx v2 18” would work like a charm. Watch YouTube videos on it if you don’t believe me. Go on YouTube and just type in “Skar zvx 18” in the search engine. Go with that zvx.

Then give it 1 ohm so you can come closer to 2.4k

 

As giga said, with rise and shit you may be lucky to even see 1k on 2 ohms

Now you got me stoked ! (except, there goes another $400) Oh and btw, WinIsd says this change will give me another 4db's. Pretty substantial, I think. I have to say though, Im sure hoping (expecting ?) that my voltage will be pretty rock solid, with my new 320 amp alt, AGM battery, and, if need be, a nice strong capacitor bank. If not, I'll keep building on that electrical, until it doesn't barely freaking budge ! I freaking hate sagging voltage ! To me that just seems like a fail.
