Can't tell if my subs are blown, need some help

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you are able to tell whether the issue, as seen in the video, is with my subs or my amp. The subs play fine at a low volume, but once it reaches a certain threshold then it starts to have an issue. You can hear it at the beginning of the video and then again at around the 45 second mark. I appreciate all feedback, thank you.

I haven't watched three video because I'm in bed with my wife and I don't want to bother her. I'll watch it tomorrow. But I would start by connecting a digital multimeter to your subs and see if the coil(s) read the right impudence. I'd they don't, then the voice coil(s) is(are) fried

If the coils are fine, do you have the means to connect a different sub to the amp? It doesn't have to even be in a box really, just to test and see if the it happens with a different sub and maybe the amp is the culprit. 

Isolating each component you have, or completely taking it out of the equation and temporarily replacing it with something else could help you find the problem as well.

Also, make sure all the settings on your head unit are flat. No bass boost, and the eq is flat. My batteries died once and for some reason, the default eq setting on my head unit is the "powerful" setting and my subs started doing weird stuff like that. Fine at low volumes, but would distort at the higher volumes

I've played the subs at volumes probably 10x higher than what is in the video so I don't think the settings impact it. I just used a multimeter and the results were that one sub read 4 ohms and the other read 3.6. What do you think?

What kind of subs are they? 

 

And yeah, the settings do matter. What I meant from that was if you change a setting or a setting got changed without you knowing it, it can cause that. If you've had a setting on for the whole time before this problem, that setting could have been sending a clipped signal to the amp, then to your subs and fried the voice coil

They're  crunch gtr12s4. Relating to the settings, I actually had updated spotify the day before it happened and I use an EQ on there so I wonder if the dB levels on the EQ changed with the update. What's interesting though is that everything I listened to before my buddy's music played fine and I'd say at about the same loudness as prior to the update.

That’s either air escaping around the outside edges of the subwoofer or a spider or both subwoofers spiders have come unglued. Inspect the subwoofers outside of the enclosure and if you don’t notice the spiders out of tact or any other abnormalities, then just put some mortite caulking cord around up underneath we the outside edges of the subwoofer where it mounts so it’s air tight. Here is a video to help you understand. Most likely this is the issue.

I read in the other forum your boys music isn't mixed worth a damn. That makes me believe @1point21gigawattsis absolutely right. Your sub or subs are damaged

Nah. They most likely aren’t damaged. They are just leaking out the outsides of the subwoofer mounting gasket. Just need to add mortite and it’ll fix that noise. Worse come to worse there is damage on soft parts somewhere. But most likely, that isn’t the case.
