12 Alpine Type Rs

I was wondering if the alpine type r 12s can handle a 1 ohm load safely and also if the woofers can really hit. I hear good things but have never heard them. I am thinking about getting 4 of them to put in a hatchback....what ya think?

for a 1ohm load on 4 subs make sure you get dual 2ohm subs and they will give you a 1ohm load..for has how they do i hear in ported boxes with about 1000 watts each they really wang and are really good for the money..

There is a guy in DB Drag with 4 12" Type R's in an Explorer doing 154+ Db. I would say that is definately wanging.

good sub for the price....buddy of mine has done a 149.7 off of one 15 and about 2500watts....but keep in mind thats for burps only...

they should slam pretty good though...just give them their rms or a tad over and you will be fine

i love mine i did a 142 legal on the tl with 1000w (2 12's) the box was tuned to 33. Also did a 144.6 on music with a window down

Yeah that 150+ on 4 12s is DEFINITELY bangin. ANybody got any experience wit these things or suggestions on requirements or anything?

For 12's you're looking for about 2 cubes per woofer with 30sqin of port per driver. I believe the guy I was telling you about runs two Hifonics Brutis 2607D's per sub strapped at 1 ohm, but it might be 2 ohm I'm not for sure. I do know that he is running the amps strapped in some configuration. The 2 cubes is about right on the box size, but the 30sqin is just an estimate from what I've seen work with them. This is not his actual setup. I have done type r 12's with as little as 24sqin per sub to as much as 44sqin per sub and they've worked out well. I had a single 12" in my car off of a RF 75.2 which was about 125 watts and it did a 138.5 on the dash out of the trunk. The box was 2.8 cubes with 36sqin of port tuned to 37hz. I never really got to put any power on it before I sold it, but the guy who bought it from me now has a Quantum Audio 1800D on it in 2 cubes in a 87 Escort hatch and is doing low 144's on the dash with it.

i have 1 12 type r on a sounstream amp with like 400watts.and i get crazy FLEX!! its in a 3cube box tuned @ 32hertz

When I have someone with a budget build in mind I have them get 2 12 type rs and then a brutus 1606d. last one i did like this guy was more than happy. I even think I have the box plan at home.
