Watts Vs Cone Area?

I dont fully understand the concept of the cone area vs watt issue.

Ex - Lets say you have 1 15" sub with 1000rms going to it and you have 1 12" sub with 2000rms going to it, which one would be louder?

I know the saying that more cone area = more output, but what about if you have big sub w/ little power and small sub w/ big power?

I've heard 2x cone area = 2x power, therefore since the 15" isn't double the cone area, the 12" would be louder. But there are too many variables for a guaranteed ratio of watts to cone area.

not the same. given the same power, the setup with more cone area will typically be louder. 2 12's with 1k watts each will be louder than 1 12 with 2000 watts.

I think he meant the two twelves sharing the 1000 watts vs. one twelve on 2000 watts. That's just how I took it
