Guest
I dont fully understand the concept of the cone area vs watt issue. Ex - Lets say you have 1 15" sub with 1000rms going to it and you have 1 12" sub with 2000rms going to it, which one would be louder? I know the saying that more cone area = more output, but what about if you have big sub w/ little power and small sub w/ big power?
Godsmack
are u asking about effencency? output? air moved? what do u want to know? I will say it is ALL SUBJECTIVE IN THE INSTALL "No poor dumb bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He did it by making the other poor dumb bastard for his country." hotshot27
I've heard 2x cone area = 2x power, therefore since the 15" isn't double the cone area, the 12" would be louder. But there are too many variables for a guaranteed ratio of watts to cone area. Guest
im asking about output/loudness. if they're in the same built/type box and same vehicle. so 2 12's, 1000w and 1 12 2000w are the same?
Guest Dylan Dude
so 2 12's, 1000w and 1 12 2000w are the same?that's a good question
Torres
im asking about output/loudness. if they're in the same built/type box and same vehicle. so 2 12's, 1000w and 1 12 2000w are the same? not the same. given the same power, the setup with more cone area will typically be louder. 2 12's with 1k watts each will be louder than 1 12 with 2000 watts. I think he meant the two twelves sharing the 1000 watts vs. one twelve on 2000 watts. That's just how I took it Current Setup: Factory HU with LOC mids/highs-Insignia components Sub- E8 in bass tube Amp- sae-1200d Show Setup: HU-Sony MEX-1HD (brings massive respect for sony) fronts - Infinity Kappa perfect comps rears- Infinity Kappa coax mid/high amp - Autotek 5600 Subs - 2 RE SE 15's Sub Amps - 2xSAE-1200D Box - 5cubes sealed Wire- Lots of Knu 1/0 SECOND SKIN
