ptcary Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 So after deciding that I do not like the fleckstone paint on my pillar pods, I figured I'd get em sprayed with grey or tan beliner at the local Line-X place. They say that they will not clean out the lines from the black color just to spray my two small pillars, and will call me when they are doing the next grey or tan job. So I decided to try other bedliner shops around, and the others that I have called say that they only do black in Texas as the other colors will fade real quickly in the Texas sun. Not sure if this is BS or not. My car spends most of the time parked in the shade under a tree at work and in my garage at home, anyway. Anyone know if this is true? They all say that the black is the most UV resistant color of bedliner spray. I ordered some of the unbacked grey and tan carpet from parts express, and if all else fails, the suckers are getting carpeted! ptcary Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) Thanks guys! I called Line-X again, and he said that they mix the custom color, spray it on, then do a topcoat on it. Line -X ultra or something, might be a little more cost. He did say that if they have some grey from a previous job, he will check and call me back and could cut me a deal on it. Still $75 to $100. All in all, I think I'll just carpet them off in tan to match my headliner in the car, and be done with em!. The fleckstone just didn't look like I thought it would with the pillars in the car, and since my interior is dark grey and tan, I could use either color, and it'll hide all the tiny imperfections, too! Yeah, but you know how digital cameras are, they dont show the surface real well --would require sanding down again, to get them really smooth for gloss paint to look perfect. Not sure I wanna do that. I'll try the carpet this weekend, and if it turns out decent, I'm done, and if it don't, out comes the sander again! I know the fake stuff is pretty cheap, but it might not last in the sun. I'll check the web after lunch, I think the cafeteria here at work is offering suede-ish meatballs for lunch!
