I'm looking at the CXT motor now and I see very little similarity besides both motors being quite large.

1) The CXT is a 4" coil, this is a 3" coil

2) The CXT has a huge pole vent, this has a small pole vent

3) The CXT doesn't have gap vents, this does

I'm sure there are plenty more, but I can tell that just looking at their intro page :)

Rest assure this motor is a design that I have concocted on my own - it is not a motor from another company.

Squeezed in a little time this evening to get it mostly built up - provided I didn't mess anything up I can at least break it in and measure specs w/ 5 spiders tomorrow. I went ahead and built the hardest spider pack I plan to make for abuse testing (3 hard and 2 medium - this is harder than 4 hard w/ my spiders). I'll test softer spider packs later.

thats a weird lookin dustcap lol

Thats because it isn't the dust cap :)

It's the stiffening disc that goes behind the dust cap.

*edit*

I think you may be joking about my pile of tape and sub motor *laughs* If so, yes, that would be a weird dust cap.

yea it was a joke :D

I've got the coil lined up w/ a stack of printer paper - I use that to center the stiffening disc since it sticks out, then stack tape up so I have something solid (not paper) to apply weight to. Started out with an MT motor until I filled around the lip with epoxy and let that cure - then I switched to the lighter motor for overnight curing of the CA and my special surround glue.

looking good

BTW Sundownz, good choice on the spiders, that is the best designed/style spider money can buy, DEFINITLY no lead slapping, or breakage there

I like how you stiffened up the spiders with the added rubberized glue between the ridges on the spider

large cone area, with higher Fs, and gaining extra stiffness/spring that way-- good job

:good:

edit: or is that epoxy in the ridges? anyways, epoxy is also the shit on maximum adhesivness

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
