Box Type Question

I want to know which type of enclosure would be the best suited for my application. I compete for Meca in SPL but i also listen to my system daily which type of setup is going to give me the most out put yet remain the most musically friendly?

Im Leaning towards a T-line i just dont know how Spl friendly they are? Also how do they do with music? Are they only set up for a certain frequency or do they play up and down like a slot port does on music?

Any one who can give me any input to help me out this would be greatly appreciated.

Im running an Mtx 9500 15 4ohm Dvc sub off a Phoenix Gold 1500 watt amp that does 1000 watts continuous power.

a t-line for a 15" would be insanly big. and the fs on a 15" 9500 is around 40 hz i beleave. 1000 watts on a 15" in a t-line is not a good idea bro. t-lines are very efficient meaning your 15 would need 500 watts max. from my what i have learned from make a few is they can be spl but one note wonders. hit up 4everbumpn on this forum, hes hella cool.

edit: i dont know the demensions of your current box but a good solid slot ported will be loud if tuned right and installed right.

1 6" aero port and you're away. Just put some sort of glue that never completely dries in the cutout for the port and have 2 lengths of pipe for it. 1 for daily bumping and 1 for SPL. Swapping takes 2 minutes and a bit of good duct-tape.

I temporarily have a 18" XXX RE in a transmission line tuned to about 34hz, and it slamms like crazy for only 350rms on a $100 amp... I could make chocolate milk on my roof I bet, musically it sounds good, lows, and highs... This is a tapered tline, basically the transmission line tunnel starts off large, and closes down to about 75sq inches, some would say its a hybrid ported box, but it respects the tlines 1/4 wave measurments pretty good

Iam selling the sub tomorrow morning, I should probably get a video of it tonite, but oh well

The sub is barely moving, I know this could take the full 2000 watts capable that the sub could handle

I used to think tlines were limited on power to for the longest time, but it was really just the amps quality of sound production

Oh BTW, that 18" tline is only 13" tall I believe, 24" deep 49" wide

Ok so i have definitely decided to build a T-line enclosure for my 15". My good buddy built one yesterday for an Mtx 4500 8" and put it in his g/f's Envoy and the output and tight response was absolutely amazing it definitely seemed like it was more than just an 8" sub back there.We had people believing that there was a 10 or 12 in a sealed enclosure in the trunk until we opened up and showed them what was up.

My question- Is there a limit to how much power you can run to a subwoofer in a T-line? Im asking because the amp im running right now does 1500 max and 1000 continuous, I just want to make sure that wont be too much I sure hope not since im set on building a T-line and have already started on it

I ran 950w to a 12" In a T-Line.

Wasn't happy below tuning though.

Watch out for 30hz and under.

I suggest tuning it to a lower range.

I didn't like mine tuned to 38hz at all.

Above 45hz it was really there though.

But for meters here is the List in order from quietest to loudest.

T-Line, Ported, Aero Ports

Now the difference is only 1-2db between all of them IIRC, but the T-Line should have better response and sound quality.

Make sure it is built well.

I think that was my problem.
