BAGGEDBIRDS.com
Like Big P said. "Macpherson" is a style of suspension typically for a front wheel drive car. It is a style where the strut bolts to the spindle and acts as the upper arm and stablizes the whole suspension. It typicalls turns with the steering of the car. MacPherson may be a manufacturer of the units originally but now it used more of the "coined" term for that style of suspenion than a reference of the manufacturer. Tokico, Bilsten, Gabrial, all make MacPherson struts. Big P was refering to cans because for a long time, if you have been into air for a while, you had to run air cylinders/cans. There wasn't a company making a bag strut bags that could turn with the steering without twisting the bag. Now they make kits that do this. Back on question, you will only be able to change out the bellows with either a 255C or a 224C bellow. They unbolt with the bolts you see. I wouldn't do it unless you have to. A regualt bag with any sort of end plate will not work. It will be a raw bellow. IMO the unit looks like a AIM unit. her's a thunderbird AIM unit 1st SMD "System of the Month" Feb. 2007 Zapco Studio 500 (2) Zapco Studio 300X Zapco Studio 204 (2) (2) FI 12ssd's w/ copper coils DLS Iridium Tweeters DLS UR2.5 MidRange FI. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU '' CALL SOMEBODY OUT '' , im not even the one this is directed to and it gets me annoyed !!! if you read the caption about this whole section ( airbags/ hydraulics ) it says '' IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, give a helping hand.. check out DAVIDs post, thats a mcpherson strut , when u modify them , and add bags to them , they are modified mcpherson struts.....
