brendyn74
I'm getting one AQ2200d with a fuse rating at 200. My stock alt is 150A, so should I upgrade my alt to a 250A? Or what other options do I have to make this not be underpowered for a daily driver?
ChevyBoy
i think you would be fine depending on what batteries you have. atleast do the big 3 if you havent already.
brendyn74
Thanks, I haven't done the big 3 on this car yet because I just bought it. Would it improve my performance just at an idle if I stuck with yellowtop and the big 3?
ChevyBoy
it would improve the performance from STOCK, but it wont run that amp. you will need atleast 1 more yellowtop i would say to power that amp properly.

MECHMAN
no If you ever run the batteries down without giving the alt to charge them back up you will let the smoke out of that stock alt for sure- That is the danger of running multiple batteries without enough alternator to keep them full. Batteries don't "power" anything, they are simply a reservoir to store current. Quote 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
dmanson
definitely get a MLA module to keep them fully charged and if you run more than two batteries, putting them on a charger here and there won't hurt.
