I'm getting a BTL 18 for my wrangler soonish, and i'm still trying to work out what amp to power it with. It'll be for a SPL/daily and i want to run it for a fair amount of time (15 mins) without it popping. I know steve has T4k's in the tahoe, i'm looking thinking bout doing the same thing. Just with one sub, and amp. Advice....?

Is it mainly the box that means steve can chuck that much power into the subs? Coz i guess running a smaller box will mean more power handling...

you have to get the box volume and port area right for it to run on the power you want..and even steve cant play his for a long long time without them getting smelly

its everything.....you cant just throw a BTL in a small box and feed it 4000+ all day long......steve has put all the work into EVERYTHING....box...power....port....all of it....like i said it can be done....but if you have never done any work with systems or anything i personally wouldnt recommend a BTL on a T4k

what do you consider a long time, cuzz he let it molly womp for a good 20 minutes straight at over2x the reccomended power and I never smelled a thing...

Ed Zachery I would give it 2.5-3k max if I were you in a smaller box and port and call it a day.

Well i'm pretty much wanting to get the max outta the sub without toasting it. I've got a bit of box building skills and am pretty good at designing...
