but what im askin is if it take 12 volts and i give it 13.5 that wont screw it up?

You seem a bit confused.

When you hook up your crossover to your amp that voltage is for the LOW level signal. That's not what Accordman was talking about.

He's talking about the MAIN power from which the amp operates, which can be anything from say 10.5 V to 14.4 usually (some amps take 16V).

Therefore, if your amp can achieve its rated power AT 12V, it's underrated....and will more than likely give out EVEN MORE power at 14.4V

The average car puts out 12.6 volts when the ignition is on, but the car isn't running. When the car is running the voltage will be anywhere from 13.5-14.7 volts. Think about this now, would you have an amp that was only meant to be used while the car is NOT running??? It will be fine, you should start to worry when / if your voltage gets to be more than 14.7...that's when things start to fry. Unless they're made to handle that high of a voltage.

Tha amp your talking about was tested at 12.6 volts...and that's where the company rated it's power output. Now if you give it more voltage, say while you're driving around...14.5-14.7 volts....you're gonna get more power from that amplifier. That's what it is meant for man.

X2.

What's scary is that some Japanese vehicles can touch 15V from the alternator.

But the truth is the audio equipment in your car is rated for 12V, but actually designed to handle voltages well above that.
