Installing Headrest Monitors

Recommended Posts

Ok so I picked up 2 Alpine TME-M760 monitors last week and they came with everything but the brackets to mount them into the seats. They look like the were glued into the headrests of the first owners car. I'm having a hell of a time find the brackets so I guess I will have to fab something up.

What have you guys done in the past?

I have the ford hi-back seats, all in one headrest not the two peice. What are your thoughts?

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Before you do any thing I would check with Alpine and tell them what you just told us...Maybe they could send you some brackets...

The reason I hate buying use headrest is because of that same reason...Some times they fall out and people get some crazy glue and glue it onto the brackets so it won't ever come out again.

I will call Alpine on Tuesday. I did look through PAC Parts to see if I could order them and they have been discontunied. They are an older model so I'm wondering if the new touch screen 6.5 will use the same brackets.

I dunno how much exposure you've had to this so i'll just throw as much at is as poss I guess and hope some of it helps:

Those are all "surface mounted" setups..which is easier, but if you really wanna hear "wow" from crowds, you can embed the trim ring in the headrest, then tuck the vinyl/leather or w/e material behind/under THAT for a more seamless install, like this:

My bro's shop here in Sacramento usually does em like this cuz they do upholstry all day and cutting open/re-sewing a headrest is no biggie for them, but if you're not feeling ambitious w/ it just the surface mount should be cool.

Hope that helps.

I like the way the surface mounts better then the tucked. But those look damn good, a lot better then many i've seen. I was thinking of building a frame a lot like the onw in link 2 then tuck the leather inbetween the frame and monitor

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer
