it would cost thousands more to make this car lay frame, the front end is the problem because you cant make the top strut mount any taller, you would have to make your own suspension from scratch, I dont have that kind of money.

the steel will be covered with Baltic birch.

you could actully get some steel, and make a couple brackets. but one on top of the rotor where the shock of the strutbar goes in place, and then chop the strut bar head off and put a couple holes on it to rest on top of the bag. i could probabily draw it out better than describe it.. and for the rear end do something like this..

it would be all custom.. and you have the welder to make all the brackets and stuff..

the rear will lay on the ground the way it is now if the tires would clear the outer-fender, will post pic.

Macphearson struts ftl, my front struts turn with steering system, I would have to totally redesign the front suspension, and Im not doing that, its not in my budget.

only reason this wont get any lower is because of the outer fender sitting on the tire

I dig the car. I can understand ur issues as well.

I'm in agreenece (spelling?) with whats been said. Weld on more metal on the frame to strengthen it, and weld the back doors shut.

I will ask some auto body friends for advice.

i forgot about how that front end is designed. it is ok with air cylinders. I am more of a AIR BAG fan myself.. i have seen lots of hondas with air cylinders. i like the look of the jetta. you can use a peice of 1" round bar and roll the lip on the rear fenders and fix that problem with it not going down all the way. i had to roll the fenders on my integra cause i lowered it and it would rub on that lip and ware down my tires..

looks good bro.. i like the design of it, and how it sits. it is going to be a BEAST for sure...

I run bags, not air cylinders, when I mount the new rim/tires I will be trying my hand at rolling the ridge and pulling out the rear fenders to accommodate the new rubber.

well I need to get the car off the ground, I will be moving shortly, and this has to move toooo.

today we will get this beast off the ground, I started early about 7am getting every thing out and ready for the day.

first I wire wheeled the trunk side rear wall so I could paint it, to keep it from rusting out.

next I cut some 3/4 x 1.5" pine strips.

Posted Image

screwed them to the steel using 1-1/4 self tapping screws

some nice 11 ply plywood for the tank to sit on, eventually it will be carpeted.

yes plywood, its not as heavy as mdf and its not being used as a sub box or anything.

more pics later, its lunch time.
