mojoman Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 anybody experience this problem b4? a buddies hu turns off by itself when playing at high volume. then turns itself back on after a few seconds. we swapped out cd players and still does the same thing. where should we look next????? mojoman Posted January 5, 2007 Author Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 the wiring appears to be correct. we even put a new 1858 harness in it just in case it was that. all harness wires are soldered and heat-shrinked. with no bare wires. thanks for the input though! audioaddiction863 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 in most head units if you drop volts below 11.5 it will shut off. even if you read 14.4 if you have a below standard ground to the head (which most factory wiring is below standard) it will drop volts at high strain times. IPOD, cd player or radio, did not matter,it would turn off and then back on. After I did my big three and the problem went away. Try it Quote Official Scores at the Dash. and YES. andym85 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Share Posted January 5, 2007 i had this problem as well...i had a loose ground wire inside of the harness...so i yanked it and wired it straight to the firewall. it could be low voltage also as previously stated.
