2001 Stratus Build, Sundown, DD, CDT.....

Recommended Posts

Well, I got a little work done today, got most of the woodwork done for the new enclosure, just need to tighten a few things up, and steal Meade's resin pool in the corners idea ;)  I know, I know, I need a new sawblade, but at least the cuts are straight ;D

that thing looks so nice!!

Oh ya the resin trick....go for it man it works good.  What i would do is since you wont be able to get to all the corners with the top on....maybe build a temporarty "dam" out of MDF and wrap it with Tin foil so the resin dont stick to the board.  Do one at a time and dont mix too hot or it will crack.  Pretty easy though, you should have no problems.

Oh ya, why do the resin trick?  it looks like you have it under control with the wood.

Anyway VERY nice box....gotta give it up to TTB they design some really nice stuff and you didnt let them down with your build so its a sweet project man!

Everyone makes mistakes...no biggie. Not like everyone was flaming you for it.

Just wanted to clear it up here. I have seen several reason being said on various forums.

And since I have been meaning to join this forum for along time, I figured kill both at once.

Anyways, that amps are nice, and the box/build is looking good.

people never get enough credit for actually admitting they made a mistake...to me that is respectful to come out and say that.  Im the same way, ive smoked some equipment in the last 3-4 years and when its my fault i always cop to it.  Ive made some really REALLY bonehead moves that cost me a full set of subs in one shot and multiple amps so i feel you man.  You know what, you have to burn some shit up to get good at this....some mistakes never happen twice and others might take a few times to learn your lesson.  Good or bad, thats valuable experience.  Your goal of course is NOT to blow anything up but bro it happens to the best of us. ;D

Well, another piece of the puzzle is done.  I know it's going slow, but with my work schedule, it's dark by the time I get home.  4 day weekend coming up, so expect the box to be finished and carpeted, these bad boys mounted and wired to the 100.2, the battery mounted, and the beginning of the new ampracks ;D

on another note who cares how long it takes, work on it when you have free time, its not like its a job, when it becomes a job that you dread doing thats when its time to stop

Now that the xmas tree is down, the greenish brown couch is back in the living room, and somehow I got the leather couch in my office out of the other living room now.

Don't ask me, my wife changes the house around about once a week.

No matter what, it has to be done by April 8th to make it's first NSPL appearance.

Horns and transmission lines are in the same catagory- 1/4 wave boxes. Yes, a horn does work like a "Bull horn" But thats the reason I still to transmission lines is cuz they are easier to build, and are -Predictable- Ive built 2 horns, for smaller speakers, and getting them to work the way I wanted was trial and error. But if you want to know how to make a horn loaded box, is easy to think about it, just hard to build it.  The horn has to stay a constant shape. or it will not wor, and I will say Stratus did a damn good job keeping that horn a Constant shape- Horn shape, if layed out flat, instead of 3-4 bend odd bends. But to me, that looks more of a Box, with a Horn loaded port  hmmmmmm

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
