bass_4_ever
hey everybody, im new to these forums so bear with me here. Right now I'm running 2 12" Polk Audio DB212-2 powered by a Kenwood 1800 watt mono amp. I've been thinking of upgrading to something loud, but with clear, deep bass. So I was wondering if you guys could give me a hand with trying to choose what to put in. Vehicle: 2003 Golf GTI 1.8T (Hatch). - im not planning on taking out the backseats unless COMPLETELY necessary. Subwoofer choices: -2 Fi BTL 15" (2000Wrms) -1 Fi BTL 18" (2000Wrms) -2 Orion HCCA (2000Wrms) -2 JL 13W7 (1000Wrms) -2 MTX 9500 (15") (1000Wrms) All subs will hopefully have a box made to specs or atleast very close. I plan on listening to rap/hip-hop with the occasional rock beat (usually with the volume turned down hehe). Any input would gladly be appreciated! Cheers everybody, Andrew
Clif
how loud do you want it? And if there is more room to take out the seats you can make a bigger ported box and that will get ya some good sound. ptcary
2 15"s ported should be nice in that car. However, you'll be adding some weight to the back end of the car. reinke
for me it all depends on which HCCS's you would run. the original ones or the new ones. Quote ----reference's---- meade916
bass_4_ever
I'm leaning towards just being loud...but i wouldnt mind SOME SQ to go along with it...i mean i just dont want to be loud as hell then be distorted or just sound like crap when its pounding. As for the HCCA's, I'd be going with the newer models as opposed to the older ones. I prefer to have SPL over SQ, but theres gotta be some sort of SQ to the beat as well...know what i mean? **keep in mind this will be a daily driven car Edited September 18, 2008 by bass_4_ever

Boon
2 15's for a start, you'll find it much easier to fit them in the back. I would say 2 15" BTLs but it depends how much power you can give them. Even if you glass the tirewell etc your box will probably end up sub-optimal size so you're going to want lots of power on them to get them moving enough to stay cool. Maybe 4 Alpine PDX1000.1's? Or a RF 4000wrms jobbie? Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
