Boon
What the hell, 16 square inches of vent? I hope you like the sound of POFF POFF POFFFFFFF WHOOOOOSH as ~250 cubic inches of displacement tries to find a way out of the box. Plus overall output would suck. Flat to 40hz and then what, -6dB/octave? Edited September 19, 2008 by Boon Quote 10.x volts fo' life!

Flat to 40hz and then what, -6dB/octave? he's looking for flat response, not peaky. when you do a flat response box, you sacrifice a lot of port area that could be used to get higher spl levels. Noobtastic14
to get a "flat" response in the vehicle, you need to Compensate for the peaks and dips that the cabin will naturally have. -Drew Quote I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. Yes, but 16 square inches? _16_ Just read that a couple of times. I have made boxes for 12's with bigger ports. Do you guys know what chuffing is? It sounds like crap and it only gets worse as the frequency drops. And by flat to 40hz, i was referring to an upwards scale, as you did say it modeled flat from 25-40hz... I mean at 60-80hz it'll probably be crap. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!

Forevrbumpn
besides the air noise, 16sq inches of port isnt gonna last long with 18s you'd really want to go with more towards 60sq inches PER 18 whenever i do bandpass I do the sealed half the size of the ported, and the port is usaully pretty large, 1- 10" I use at least 1-6" port which is about 28sq inches of port Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
