littleitaly1990
and whoever answers if you could compare pros and cons of 1ohm versus .5 ohms, that would be awesome. Quote A vitrolic, megalomaniacal sadistic psychopath.
Torres
http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9952 Pyramid 50 Amp Power Supply 8 AWG from supply to batteries Kinetik 2400 Battery Duralast 1000 CA Battery 2 AWG between batteries 4 AWG from batteries to amp Fluke AC current / voltage meter Sears DMM Measurements: 65.8 volts 49.2 Amps 1.33 ohm calculated rise from 0.6 ohm DCR ** 3237 Watts 14.4 volts rest dropping to 10.75 volts follow the link. it has more info and details i remember reading from jacob that dropping to .5 ohms wont give you that much of a gain...if anything you'll get hotter and lose efficiency. so it's better for competition applications to go to .5 ohms Edited October 3, 2008 by ExpoSport
sundownz
IMO... for daily... 1/2 ohm is not worth the added current draw, stress on the amp, and lack of full warranty support and coverage. You will gain some power... but not enough to really justify it unless you compete in SPL. sundownz
3000 to 4500 watts is at most 1.5 dB in theory... with power compression, most likely around 1 dB. Pretty much the minimum audible threshold. Just something to think about. Chode69
something to ponder but that will take me from an already low 145.6 to a 144 flat (about) if anything i would like to step up power... If your primary concern is the number on the meter then you may want to go with more power - you won't lose a full 1.5 dB, that is theoretical. Most likely it would be 1 dB or less You could run the 3000D @ 16 volts and get more power if that is an option. thefordmccord
If you look at the test results, you will see that it did over 3000 watts while dropping to 10.75 volts. With a strong electrical system, it will make you happy. usmc7980
why not strap 2 smaller amps for the needed power?
