Guest
thats not even a fair competition to be honest. the XXX is over a grand or two (if im correct) and the BTL is around $500 the XXX is a SQ master and the BTL is only towards SPL maybe if it was XXX vs Q (for sound quality) it would be a little more fair...but not really. Yes the xxx is better on the sq, but both subs handle the same power. I wouldnt say the btl is really a spl sub just because it can handle power. After all I think the recomended tuning for a btl is 32hz, not many SPL guys tune at 32hz, or even under 50hz. I think of the btl as a re mt, but only a daily sub and not a burp sub with no cooling. If sq is what you want, get the xxx. if spl is what you want, get the mt. if you just want an abnoxiously loud daily driver that will sound great at high volumes, get a btl. These are just my opinions.
dwright27
is meade the only one that has ran both MT's and BTL's? i would choose the btl's though imo. ive ran an MT and a BTL and here is my thoughts on them. both were 18" dual 2's. my MT is just as loud as my BTL was to the ear, given i havent put more then 1300 RMS to it. the MT with a different amp and 800 RMS hits the higher notes of the spectrum as easily as it does the lower notes of the spectrum. David
you cant buy the MT's anymore unless your a competitor, the MT and the BTL are not as close as some are making it out to be, they are very differrent woofers. the coil gap is much tighter on the MT because it was meant to be a pure spl woofer, the BTL has cooling options, the coil is bigger (length not width) if you can find an old MT off of one of the car audio forums, snatch em becuase unless your competiting and can prove that you do you cant buy the new MT. Sorry Dustin, but your such a newb I wouldnt listen to anything you have to say about a woofer even if you owned them both, your dust cap shouldnt get but luke warm unlesss your clipping the hell out of them, and with 1300 watts on it Im sure you are.
