I'm not sure if you all caught my Amplifier thread, but one of my amps thumps loudly upon startup. That was the problem that fried my setup before and it's bad again. After returning from repair it was very subtle and I figured it was normal, but now it's violent. I came to the decision of pulling it out and running just the bottom amp at 2-ohms and holy shit... it's louder and cleaner than before and no thumping! I'm moving even more air and using less draw off electrical. So IMO 2000W > 8000W. But seriously, I'm calling my rep and I'm demanding a swap. I think its a lemon and I don't want it messing anything up again... And as for tuning, it's SOOO much better now. It sounds like a clean, loud system now. Just based on feeling I'm saying I'm doing very high 140s and moving tons more air. I'll try to test vid again soon. Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions? Don't worry. I'm definitely going to experience full capacity before I rip it out. I'm just not planning on doing to much more work to the enclosure. Maybe I won't actually experience the fully sealed effect, but the only part of the car that's giving in to flex is the rear hatch. Plus, I'm going to fully design the next setup before starting the build and I gotta get my new equipment too. I love bass too much to go without it. No bass = Need an install? I have in no way ever considered myself a pro. Nor do I have an answer for everything. I just try to give my insight to what's going on. Yes it is messy and I also admit that earlier. How about instead of telling me that you think is sucks, give me some advice to make my next one better, or tell me why my insights are wrong and tell me why. I don't mind positive criticism, but you have not given me that. Yes, I agree there's a phase issue in that situation, but I have a dud for an amp and that plays a big role in sound. Well that's the plan. I am however going to play with it for a while until my new equipment comes in. I know this wasn't the best install, but it it very solid construction. I'm thinking about making a similar design to assmans Asstro. Not with 32 tens however.. I'm thinking about staying with my two amps (once the one gets swapped out), and doing 8 15s. I definitely have enough box space for that being sealed and the large angle the baffles will create with the subs I'm thinking about... I might even just sell one amp and use one on 500W RMS 15s to make this more feasible. I'm going to talk with assman to see if he has any good advice for me, and I'll take anybody's advice on what to do for this next one to do it right. How do you guys feel about this? Need an install?
