audiofanaticz
goliath... DD is a bitch to work with CS wise. and the z1 had probs CS is hit or miss, but Ive always seemed to have prompt recones done with fast turn around times. the first gen z1 is garbage, the z1a is great however most issues are caused by user error. Thenew z2 series lv and hv (low volt & high volt) are to be great. They replace the z1 and z1a and put out way more then the z1, z1a, and old z2s. Id buy the new z2 lv or hv way before some hifonics amp. Plus you can get the z2 lv from a dealer for right around $1500. I think the hifonics is around $1700 for 5000wrms and the z2 lv will do well over 8000rms at 14.4volts. I wouldnt buy a dd z1a online used unless I seen the amp in person to be fully confident that it is a z1a and not a z1, I wouldnt buy a z1 at all (but would use em if they where free to me). AI James
see the question was a z1 thoguh not all these other amps so my suggestion imo is still valid
audiofanaticz
Yes it is, and I agreed with you about not getting one and so did even dwrong27.... But if he is buying new, chances are it maybe hard to find the z1, if he is buying used good luck with the z1.
