Fish Chris
Okay now, but you have to remember, "I know how big a part of the whole thing the build is"....... and I've already said, I'm comparing two 12"s in an "optimum enclosure" given the max in clean power, to one 12" in an optimum enclosure, also given the max in clean power, which just happens to be all the same power to itself, instead of split between the other two subs. Who is it on this forum who's sig says, "Theirs no Subsititute For Cone Area" ? I think their is some truth to this. I'm well aware that their are about a million variables...... but for the sake of this argument, I was saying "with all things equal" EXCEPT cone area..... Hmmmm.... Fish i'm going to leave it as it's all in the build..

IH8PunkRok
if u have the space for a large enough box and u are accurately powering the 2 12's (not underpowering) then they should be louder than 1 12 with the same power. simple matter of physics is all. it takes alot less movement for 2 subs to create the same air pressure as one. and since air movement equals sound pressure it makes much more sense to get 2 12's instead of 1. just observations i make. there is always potential for 1 sub to be louder but normally takes alot more power to do so. Ray
what if the single 12" moves twice as far as the 2 12's?? Its not all about cone area, rather the volume of air being displaced Quote 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz
IH8PunkRok
what if the single 12" moves twice as far as the 2 12's??Its not all about cone area, rather the volume of air being displaced exactly wut i was tryin to get at. if u got a sub that moves alot then it may be able to out do two lower end twelves. however it takes more power to move a sub that far and normally it would be more than just 800w. correct? i mean honestly im just guessin off wut i have read but i am fairly sure i have the right idea about wut im talkin bout. bottom line it is normally much cheaper to get two lower end less power subs than one beast top of the line sub. correct me if i am wrong cuz i dont like given out false information Quote -Matt2005 Dodge Magnum RTJVC KD-AVX1 2 PPI S580.2 Obsidian Audio ST1 Horn Tweeters PRV 8MB450s Audio Legion 3500.1D 2 RE MT 18s 360 ah LiFePO4 BatterySHCA 2/0 155.2 @ 29 hzKicker CVR 15's buildDD 3512e buildMini T-Line Build(6) 8s BuildNightshade 15s Wall BuildMagnum AB XFL 12s BuildNewest Magnum Build
aznboi3644
X2Ex. I really ain't to fond of JL's products, but I have heard 1 12" W7 trump alot of 2 12" set-ups. Yet I've heard 2 12's be louder, vice-versa. IMO its all in the build. my memphis 15 PR (powered by 250 watts rms) is louder than my friends 12W7 (on 500/1) its in the install

RAD
Its not always about cone area. Competed in a comp last year, myself a DD9512 @ 40hz powered by a DDM3. Another guy, 4 Earthquake Dbxi's sealed off a PHD5000. Similar power, both in trunk cars, he had 4x the subs. I scored 141's, he scored 139's. And its Charger who has the line "There is no substitute for cone area"... although he himself opted for 6 15's over 18 12's in his trooper, so what does that say?
