The rule with 16v seems to be that if you have to ask, you can't run it. Going to 16v can be pretty complicated.

he speaks the truth, you would need the 16 volt alt. and batteries, its really meant for show vehicles from what ive been told and what ive seen

I am running the Sundown SAZ 1500D as well on a stock Toyota Solara electrical set up. Yes it dims. I do need to upgrade the battery or add a supplemental battery in the trunk. But with my sub wired to a 1 ohm dcr, my amp with 50 hertz tones, puts out 52 volts, 17.4 amps with 3.05 ohms resistance and 900+ watts. I show about 85 % efficiency. I hope that helps you adjust. Derrick above has it correct. No need to add a ton of batteries.

How low does your voltage drop? How is battery connected? Make sure all battery terminals and ground are solid and tight.

I ran my 1500d with stock wiring alt and battery and my lights didnt even dim. But when i ran my kenwood kac-9103d(900rms@1omh) My lights looked like I was in a rave club. Now Im running a 200amp alt a 875CA battery and a big3 upgrade and have no prob. I will be going with a 3000d soon and from what Iv understood wil only have to add a realy good battery in the back. In other words for that amp my electrical system right now is overkill. But there right about that amp being crazy power efficient.

Vehicle: 2001 Ford Escape

Head Unit: Kenwood Kdc-x592

All out for a rebuild.

New shit coming in the next 30 days.
