A clamshell would give me a lil less cubes and make it work for 12s. Nightshade Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 You said that you have 32"X31" which is the width of the box? Because I don't honestly see you fitting 15's anyway with the width being the 32" even. The outside diameter of most 15's is over 16". So even if you put them right next to one another you will probably not make it fit. I say do the 12's in a flat wall. The flat wall is usually going to be better on the TL for numbers anyway. I'm not saying that a clam doesn't get loud, but why do most spl vehicles have flat walls? Because that's the loudest type of wall. Your going to lose some cone area and that may hurt a bit, but I really think you'll have quite a hard time fitting 15's in there. You may be able to fit them if you did a verticle clam and offset the woofers from one another, but that's the only way I see them fitting. Find out what the outside diameter of the subs are and let us know. You could even do a 4th order with the 12's if you decide to go with them. The only problem with that is the limited bandwidth that you'll get from it. I don't think a 4th order would work for 15's due to the lack of box volume. The trim panels will help it look better on the side. I think i have more space between subs then he does haha. David Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 ok uhm where to start...... if it was me, and I really wanted to run 15's id rip out what you have. 4 15's are not gonna fit in what you have now, you have plenty of depth which imo is a good thing. if you wanna keep up with Joe, your gonna have to come correct, and imo single layer shell is not gonna cut it. you have 2 options imo, you can either yank that box out and start fresh or your gonna have to run 12s... the front opening need to be bigger for 4 15s. this is for music correct?? if so, I would clam it, clamshells have a fantastic track record for being fucking loud as hell and putting up big numbers in bassrace, dont let anyone try and fool you, Just look at frankie Rio's lexus when he took the drive by title he had a clamshell, ask Randy Kubiak Aka AssMan what he thinks of clamshells.... many loud ass clamshells out there... and sponsors should have little say in how is built IMO.
