i want to do kicks but i'm pretty convinced they wouldnt last a week between my friends and upstate ny snow/salt/mud

Will do. I'm trying to do something different. All of the kicks I've seen done, the speakers are pretty much on the floor and the kick tapers up to the side, kind of like a tear drop. I'm going to try inverted if you will. I'm going to try to keep the drivers up just under the dash, but so they can still be directed at the dome light, we will see how successful I am at that. That way you can put your feet on the floor and not step on them.

The bracing on the inside of your box is sweet. I wish that I could have done cuts like that when I was doing the bracing inside mine. The kicks look like you have a solid start on them too. I'm debating weather I'm going to do kicks or dash pods in my car for a pair of 4" comps. If your kicks turn out good I may just do some then cause they're kind of inspiring me to do some.

Thanks for the compliments. Yea, I had an inspiration after Raytard suggested I run a dowel side to side and connect them together. There was not enough room between the ports, so I remembered a trick Norm Abrams did on New Yankee Workshop. He had a drill press though, I just used my dewalt hand drill and did my best They came out real strong.

Once I got past the fear of getting started, the kicks were kinda fun since you are creating something from scratch. I'm gonna try to glass them up a little more tomororw, then next week I want to cut all my rings and wrap them and work on the rear deck.

Those are for hurricane season and the generator.

Already have one coat of resin on the inside and glass in the corners, but I'm going to add more.

as far as the whole mids being low in kicks with the tweeter right by it, its kind of a staging thing, but putting it up a little shouldnt hurt so long as the dash isnt blocking it from getting to both people in the front

and wrapping is the fun part...and by fun i mean infuriating...take your time and dont be afraid to retry it, fleece is cheap and it makes a big difference (i honestly spent like 4 or 5 hours wrapping my 4 pods, they were the first I ever did, and I know you're in that boat too)

edit: if you can, try and find 4-way stretch fleece, it makes the process 10x easier than the more common 2 way....test it out in the store, most only stretches like vertically, not horizontally)
