kickasskid544 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 ok so right now i have 3 12" 12ohm old ass JL audio W0's on a planet audio amp that is giving 400 watts rms at 4 ohms i really want to rep Fi around my town in Jersey since no one has even heard of em, and ever since i saw Mr Meade's tahoe i was in love with the Fi brand subwoofers so im looking to buy 2 Fi SSD15's and was going to get the planet audio Rx-2400 i believe its called which provides 1600watts or so at 2 ohms ive already got the box design from one of the members here at SMD and am having a good friend of mine build the box or atleast help with the box i consider my car a little on the unstable side electrically it only has a 95 amp alt and lights used to dim but instead of adding to the power supply i just bought HID's to stop that.. anyway to start off the questions: 1. Should i buy a higher output alt, if so what one would i need for a 2000 Hyundai sonata 2.5v6 2. Should i buy another battery to make the power more stable or would my stock battery do the job 3. How exactly would i connect two batteries if i bought a second, i have an idea of it but im pretty sure im wrong and dont wanna catch my car on fire or anything lol i probably have more questions but cant think of them right now anyway if i forgot to give a detail about something ask me i really appricate this, basically my first real fabbed up install and i want to try and do almost all of it myself not exactly the easiest thing for a 17 year old

Decaf Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 1. Should i buy a higher output alt, if so what one would i need for a 2000 Hyundai sonata 2.5v6PM Db Linc for an alternator or email Iraggi/Excessive Amperage/Ohio Generators/HO Alts.. and yes you should buy an alternator... once you have a sufficient battery bank, u need a new higher amperage alt to keep the batts charged 2. Should i buy another battery to make the power more stable or would my stock battery do the job You should ditch the stock battery all together and get the biggest Optima/Kinetik/Powermaster battery you can fit upfront under the hood, and with the power ur talking about maybe a kinetik hc2000/pm d2400 should help alot. The stock battery isnt designed to be discharged as deep or as much as a "car audio" battery 3. How exactly would i connect two batteries if i bought a second, i have an idea of it but im pretty sure im wrong and dont wanna catch my car on fire or anything lol Simple, run 1/0 wire from front bat + to rear bat +... and use the rear batt as ur "distribution block," grounding it in the rear along with the amp ground... ideally u should also be upgrading the power wire from alt + to front bat +, front bat - to engine block, and engine block to chassis (aka "the big 3").... if you want to overkill, you could also connect the front and rear -'s with the same size wire as power wire... goodluck, keep the questions coming, the only bad question is one never asked... thats how u catch shit on fire lol
troy Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 connect the power from each battery. then ground it like an amp. probably should upgrade atleast the alt or battery one. retarded build on the way..... 2000 bagged s10 2 hdc3 15s aq2200 aq4x90 stinger/knu wire optima batteries 220 amp alt fosgate hu/mids and highs
