flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 so i just got my new amp and set it with a DMM (52 volts ac on a 50 hz tone volume 3/4 of the way up) and it sounded good but it didnt play as low as is did before on my other amp with half the power. so i went to test it on some different songs (white girl, hood run down, pull my hair, put on etc ...etc....) to test the lows and they just werent there. so i redid the gains this time at 40 hz tone and when i hooked it up it was buzzing like crazy so i turned it down and it still buzzes even at low volume. is it a tinsel and if it is how can i fix it. this sucks cause ive been bassless for so long and now that its within my grasp murphys law has to kick me in the jumblies. AI James Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 pull the sub out and look. we cant tell you off the top of our heads. maybe the box was suitable for your lower power but not the higher power Quote
flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 does it sound like i did any of the steps wrong? when looking at my voltage it never dropped below 12.2. i'll take it out tomorrow and let you guys know what i see. Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
AI James Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 no idea your thoughts on resetting the gain at the lower hz. measure the coils see what they read Quote
E a r t h Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 so you had the BTL in there before the amp swap? Quote
flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 yeah i had it hooked up to a power acoustik 3000d @ 4ohms so it was seeing "1000" watts that was before i hooked up the second battery. its strange cause it was almost as loud but the low end was bad ass. i hit 137.7 @ 34hz. now to the ear it seems to peak at 38-40hz Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
kirill007 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Couldn't it be a RCA which is not plugged in well, or the amp is not good grounded. Quote Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 the grounds and the rcas are good. and i measured the vcs and it still read 1 ohm. i wanted to pull out the sub but couldnt cause of the rain. Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 I'm thinking one of the tinsels may have broken because don't the BTLs have 2-3 per terminal? Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
flashlight_65 Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 i reset the gains at a lower freq thinking it might bring the low end more.(gosh that sounds noobish) but im still learning. its just strange that it peaked so low before (30-40hz) and now the 40-50hz range is louder Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
