Neo_frog Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Other than the obvious, what are some things one would modify in their car to shoot up the pressure. NO, I'm not talking about sound deadener or sealing from front to back. I mean modifying firewall, filling doors, bracing the roof...shit like that. What are some advanced, yet legal, mods one could do to help with getting to 160? I have a big build coming up and I want to know everything I need to do before I start. Need an install? LoudBlazer Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 Well then your talking about focusin it all into one spot on the dash. I dont see you having an issue with your future plans if you get more power. Those 160 guys at SBN still had flex haha. Not gonna void that unless you go extreme with extra sheetmetal and REALLY REALLY bracing your roof and doors. I dont think you want to go to an EXTREME. Just build what your thinking now and go from there. Alot of it is in the box like all other builds begin. Build the right box and give it all the juice you can 1997 2 Door Blazer Bagged & Body Dropped SBC/TH350
audiofanaticz Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 theres to many varibals for the terms legal. Are you making it a 160 bassracer, or a 160 burp machine? Two different sets of rules you have to follow. And if you where going to be running extreme, the rules are limited to your imagination for the most part. Cement filled doors. Steel reinforced roof, cement floor, build your door panels farther out to take up more interior space.
Neo_frog Posted March 20, 2009 Author Report Posted March 20, 2009 Yeah, forgot to mention 160 bassracer. So far it seems I've pretty much covered everything then... But where can I find those rules for car mods? Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions? Boon Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Cement isn't considered 'loud' any more, now most people just use it to get a flat floor to build off. It's steel+MDF that all the extreme cars are using nowadays... 160 burp can be done easily (well, relatively....) without any modifications ahead of the B-pillar... 10.x volts fo' life!

Neo_frog Posted March 21, 2009 Author Report Posted March 21, 2009 Build as close to the B-Pillar as you can. What is the layout? Flat wall? Diamond? Clamshell? Well the next idea is being tossed around. I was originally going to do a clamshell like 2000lade's (12 12s on 24k). Then I changed to bigger subs with a clam like yours (6 15s on 24k), and now we're tossing around the idea of a 4th order with eight 15s on 16k. Obviously it'll take a ton of power and strong equipment, but I didn't know if anything else was done to the car other than the basics. My question is basically if I built this new system and I was bassracing a 158 MAX on music (burping 160 however), what could I do to bring that up the bassrace to 160? That's my concern. tommyk90 Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 If you are maxing out at a 158 with the equipment, then you'll have to start modifying the cabin in order to get the score up. Wooden door panels, wooden floor, headliner built down, windshield bracing, etc. I think the 12 12's would be your best bet since it's quite a bit more cone area than 6 15's, and I don't see you having enough airspace to properly fit 8 15's in a bandpass (it would be quite a bit larger than a normal ported clamshell for 8 15's). Just an fyi, all the guys that CAN do a 160+ in bassrace have relatively stock interiors minus bigger door panels for their highs and maybe a windshield brace. Other than that they are stock. Yeah, the bandpass was just another idea in the hat. I think I'm gonna stick with the 12 12s or 6 15s. Reason being the vertical ports just don't perform well in this car. My intentions were to modify doors for highs, but make it really strong in the process without going extreme and strengthen the roof with wood and glass headliner. I'm hoping it'll be enough. I noticed they take their seats out as well for the runs so I guess the key is to just build and see what happens... Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions?
