Because people are stupid and think they can be like Alan and run 5x as many watts as recommended.

read my post about the 1500 series.

I don't know much about either, but in response to the comment about lots of DD's being blown, noone at my high school knows DC's, but EVERYONE knows DDs and some kids try to run them with crappy amps, too small amps, etc etc...I wonder if them being mainstream and everyone who knows next to nil about audio knowing about them and using them could be part of the issue...or maybe not. Idunno.

Too many projects, too little time...

Let me start by saying, i have know the guys at DD for a long time and they build a FANTASTIC SUB!! we were a dealer for years and used them in every street car I built the compeated, well intill i had my own line =] In Anas CRX the DD 9500 10Gs were .2 louder at 61 hz the DC's were .2 louder at 53 hz . One sub played high freq better the other played low freq better, They have pretty much the same size motor, the DD we used has a composite cone, carbon fiber dust cap and overall light moving mass

as for one sub out living the other heres a DD coil out of a 9510G, round wire coil
