Chris from Mi
well, i went to wal-mart yesterday, and when i went to start my car, it...well....gave a brief hick-up, then i shut it off immediately. When i went to restart it, i could feel the starter engage, but the crank would only turn bout 1/2" before turning back to resting state. :censored: car is a 97 escort 180k miles, junkyard motor with 70k on it *replaced when car had 150k)* replaced timing belt when we put j/y engine in. Right now i'm thinking it is the starter because i have plenty of batt power, and i kinda doubt it jumped time and got really f'd up (or at least i pray so) due to the new timing belt. oil just changed bout 1k miles ago and it was clean (no metal shavings) Also, about 6 months ago the starter would make a funny noise when it disengaged. So, unless you guys have any other suggestions i'm gonna make a run for harbor freight to get a floorjack and a pair of jackstands and gonna have to pull the starter in the school parking lot, and start things from there. not to mention i have hardly any time since finals are coming up quick :shot: any help would be greatly appreciated, as i'm not the most experienced mechanic but i do have some experience under my belt Quote Orion 2500D, Jbl Gto 75.4 Team Wolfpack Audio FSQ 15" d2, mb quart xover, tweets peerless 6.5 mids Alpine cda-105 optima up front Knu klm 1/
*1LOWSUV*
With it being a Ford, sounds like it could be the starter or starter solenoid. : Quote [email protected]

stretchnutz78
im all about lending a hand if i can, but being you are in florida and i reside in pa causes some issues. and i am a ford person, dont like to pay overseas venders for services that are just as much quality made by our own. no disrespect intended towards anyone, just believe american made actually means something. deffinately check your connections before anything than take a look at your starter. being your ride has some miles it just may need a lil terminal cleanup. Chris from Mi
well, i took the starter off and took it to autozone, and it checked out fine, i'm about to go and try to turn the flywheel by hand to see if that works, if not i'm screwed its gonna be a bitch especially if it jumped time and fucked up the valves etc Quote Orion 2500D, Jbl Gto 75.4 Team Wolfpack Audio FSQ 15" d2, mb quart xover, tweets peerless 6.5 mids Alpine cda-105 optima up front Knu klm 1/

Chris from Mi
i've got an everstart maxx, and yellowtop, and its dropping to 10 volts when i crank it. I tried turning the flywheel by hand, turns one way, but stops dead at a certain point in the opposite, i havent tried turning it 360. So looks like it jumped time so tomorrow i'm gonna take off the timing belt cover and see whats up. This sucks when i have finals coming up. Chris from Mi
well, i got to the crank and the timing belt was a lil loose and when i rotated the crank it would turn almost a full 360 before stopping abruptly like the piston was hitting a valve, same happened when i rotated it the opposite way. I havnt done a repair like this, and time is very limited with finals coming up so i could definitely use some input Edited May 2, 2009 by Chris from Mi Quote Orion 2500D, Jbl Gto 75.4 Team Wolfpack Audio FSQ 15" d2, mb quart xover, tweets peerless 6.5 mids Alpine cda-105 optima up front Knu klm 1/
