Money aside, which is the BEST wood to use; Birch or MDF? zfrerichs Posted May 11, 2009 Report Share Posted May 11, 2009 i got the run down from a guy who works at a lumber yard he said plywood will always be stronger than mdf because of how it is made when they make the birch the use little sheets of wood and switch the grain direction every layer so its strong from every angle, and the birch is lighter. but 1.5 inch mdf is SEXY!
