Any Recommendations On Some Shallow Mount 10's?

Recommended Posts

I'm doing an install for this kid, drives a titan. Not a whole lot of the room under the seats there, and it's going to be a downfire box, so the P3's he ordered aren't gonna work. I saw those Kicker downfire ones, anybody have experience with these?

Its going to be powered by an Alpine mrd-605. (600w at 2 ohms)

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors

Subwoofer Wall

I have seen 5.25" of mounting so I know it is possible w/ 3/4" mdf, in the titan. If you have at least 5" of mounting depth do memphis m-class 10's, they don't require much airspace either. These subs sound badass and can handle a lot more than advertised. Memphis reps say they can handle 400 cont. and be beating the hell out of them and they are fine. I had 600 running to mine and I beat the hell out of them for a year with that power and they were still going strong, but I sold my truck and took them out. All in all the amp he has would be perfect for these subs. Plus these subs are not that expensive for the quality of them.

Pioneer premier, Kicker CVT, and Earthquake SWS subs are all low depth/shallow mount subs.

The Earthquake subs have the highest xmax, but i havn't had a chance to compare the 3. The CVT's look good and the high xmax on the sws is appealing but the pioneers look a lil weak.

Thanks guys, I gotta see what this kid wants to do. He's strapped for cash so its up to him what he ends up with. I'll post build pics if theyre worthwhile.

From the bottom of the magnet to the top of the surround, its around 7 inches. And I want to leave around 1 1/2 inches between surround and floor, and then you add in the 3/4" MDF for the top of the box, and its over 9 inches. At the tallest point, the box is 8.5 inches, lowest point is 6 inches. So it's gotta be shallow mounted unless he ends up deciding to do a sort of center console.
