when i set my DMM to 200ohm mode and touch the probes together, i get about .6-.7ohms. is that normal?

yea. depending on how cheap or expensive the multimeter is you get more or less internal resistance from just the meter. ive got one that wont go below 1.5 ohms, even when i parallel speakers to 1/4 ohm.

yes cheaper dmm's have resitance in them... when you read you ohm's you have to add .6 .7 if your dmm reads -.6 -.7 and minus if it reads .6 .7

so it it reads .7 and you test a 2 ohm sub should read like 2.7 you minus the .7 your dmm automaticaly has

That is what the leads on your meter are. What kind and how good of a meter is it?

not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be.

also an aged battery in the dmm will cause readings to be off and or jump around more

x2

omg. How did i forget that.

I ended up running a amp at .2 ohms because of this. DMM varied from .9 to 1.2 or so, meh I just thought it was rise. :(
