Nah, they won't evacuate. They'll just let the bridge burn.

That's just crazy..i remember the bridge very clearly....you can't miss it when crossing over the american river.

Yea that is a nasty Fire. That one probably would have to let burn and burn itself out..Just protect any structures or (exposures) as us Firemen put it..That wood is treated with Creosote. A Black tar like substance that will burn for hours even days. I would stay away from the smoke, because without proper breathing apparatus it is aggravating and could cause discomfort.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creosote

Read about that nasty stuff..Always love your Firemen..!!

Ha Ha..Cool Meade.. Well keep me posted on what they think started it..I read where they think someone started it..Not saying It is so but, I have personally seen a Train start a fire like that..Well if you ever watch a train go by at night, there brakes throw off sparks when they hit them..The train goes over the tracks, there is some grass or dry brush in between the tracks sparks hit the grass an bam...There you go your own little camp fire... I remember one day in our home town a train started about 4 grass fires as it went along the railroad tracks...That ole train could have started that fire because at a certain temperature and if the humidity or lack there of is right Creosote is fairly flammable...When they find out just let us know what started it...I am interested..Could be foul play or could be a train with sparky brakes

 it's well after 11:am here in sactown and that dam fire is still smoldering... although it is contained! last night i was leaving work just as it happened, there was like a 2,000 foot tall wall of smoke shooting straight up! the only camera i had was the phone, and from my advantage point it was not cutting it! hope all my brothas here in sactown are cool!

the wood is treated between 10-20 hours in the stuff and it is very very toxic and burns like hell when its on the skin. let alone breatheing the stuff anytime you have to have a rubber suit on top of a rubber suit to work with something that tells you right away that it's nothing to play with
