SQMonte Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Dude........This is one clean set-up. The ID subs are nice,..good choice! I think the amp rack looks great, but not my car. Maybe your NEW idea is better? Thanks man, I appreciate all the kind words. I'm my own worst critic so even if it looks ok, if I see or know of 1 thing that's messed up or not just right then it just isn't good enough for me. I like the overall look of the rack, but the fact that I'm a noob to woodwork and didn't take my time thinking out and executing this rack shows and until I figure out my next layout it's just gonna have to suffice. But rest assured, my next rack will be better. how u like that deck? n is it good wit ipod? i got the older one the 860 n its cool but i need somethin that will show the full song but for what i got mine for i unno if its a deal or not but still its a good price for 6.5v preouts and a full on active circuit if u dnt know on back of headunit theres a lil switch that convertes the front n rear rcas from fullrange to front highpass with seperate eq, and rear i guess mid/bandpass with seperate eq, does the same thing as a rf 360 does, i wanna try it but havent the amps yet I like it so far, haven't really played with it much since my system isn't fully functional yet (should be in about an hour or two) but I plan on spending alot more time with it this evening as I begin tuning it all. I don't have an iPod (but I did when I first started piecing my system together so I do have a Pioneer iPod interface BNIB if anyone is interested) so I won't know how it works with that but I do have a Zune which i'm going to run via aux input. Unfortunately it can't handle Zune natively so I'll just have to deal with it for the time being.LOL. It's funny you bring up that switch because I did in fact know about it but in my haste to get the deck installed I completely forgot about it so i'm gonna have to pull it out this evening to make sure it's set to active or "NW". I'm gonna be pissed if it's already set there cause I have to rip my dash apart in order to get the deck out. I guess that's what I get for not paying attention, right? Alrighty, time to go get busy! SQMonte Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Well guys, again, I am teh fail System still not making noise although I did get everything wired up as planned. Everything turns on and lights up, but mids/highs (all that's connected at the moment for tuning purposes) are still silent. By the time I wrapped it all up it was already dark out so I'll have to start troubleshooting tomorrow after work. Dammit man, if it's not one thing it's another! It's very promising though, seeing as how everything is alive so i'm hoping for a loose or disconnected connection or something along those lines. Shit happens, whaddayagonnado? Anyways, I got my amps all wired up, the HiFonics looks pretty sick all lit up...My AQ bass knob has a blue LED, which is cool, but that mofo is bright as hell. Bright as in too bright to leave it as is, can't drive around like that at night so i'm gonna have to do something to tame it. I got my SVR battery installed and already I notice that my lights don't flicker as much...my old battery must have been on it's last legs. I haven't run the alt power lead yet because I was running out of daylight so I decided to focus on getting the system running, but I did test for hood clearance where I wanted to mount it's fuse block and found that I have to relocate it cause it didn't allow the hood to close. No worries, I've already eyed a spot where clearance won't be an issue. So even though it's not up and running, I feel like I got alot accomplished. Hopefully tomorrow I'll figure out why it's not making noise and can fix it, stay tuned..... SQMonte Posted August 30, 2009 Author Report Posted August 30, 2009 Alright, it's all finished! I woke up this morning at like 6am and my back was bothering me a little bit so I decided to get up instead of stay in bed. After I showered and brushed my teeth I felt fine and was energized and motivated so I decided to go out to my car and rip the dash apart so I could see if I was right about the reason my system wouldn't play...I was indeed! On the back of my deck, the RCA's aren't hard wired in, all 3 sets are terminated into a single plug that plugs in to the back of the deck. When I pulled the deck out to move the switch to Network mode (to use it's active xover network), the plug had come out. So I put the plug in and check for sound and was rewarded I wanted to get this done two days ago but I had a horrible day at work that day; first I was bummed about my system not working after wiring everything up the night before, then on the way to work it felt like my tranny was slipping, then I was in such a rush to get back to the office after my work was done in the field that I ended up running a red light at one of the worst intersections in Sac, Howe and Fair Oaks, and got my picture taken :censored: So I was done after that, just in a pissy mood and when I get like that it's best that I don't touch anything expensive or valuable because it won't take much for me to lose it and I'd end up breaking some shit so I decided to come home and drown my sorrows with Jager bombs. Yesterday my inlaws came over so I didn't touch my car, as bad as I wanted to. So now that it's up and running, it's time to tune it and get it sounding right. I played with it a bit today but still need to spend considerable time with it to get it to sound like it should. It gets pretty loud and is clear, but I haven't really pushed it too hard since it's not dialed in yet. I also took a video to see how my cam captured the sound of it, the mids/highs sound alright but the bass is non-existent. The only way you can tell it's wangin' is when I show the subs in action or show mirror vibration shots, other than that it's either pure distortion or you can't even hear the bass at all. I was pleasantly surprised when I pushed the subs, especially when I played "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins, the Eddhick Bass remix....that shit hits so effin' hard it's ridiculous. Well, you've seen all the pictures of my system up until this point, all you haven't seen is my main power lead wiring under the hood, my SVR battery and my subs in the trunk so here you go: 2 Image Dynamics 12's in a ported SubZone Z-Series box, 2.0 cu. ft. per chamber JL Audio 2ga wire, fuse holder w/200a ANL fuse SVR 34/78DT battery w/XScorpion battery terminal (I have negative one too, will install once I finish the Big 3), factory wiring connected on side terminals It's really a SVR battery, see the logo?!
