my vet ast friend says if its red its probably infected anal gland, you can try to express it, but she recommends going to the vet especially if the gland is infected, waiting to see if she has a home remedy for you

you need someone to help you, someone to hold the dog. a sterile latex glove some lube (ky jelly).

going in the anus at 3 oclock and 9 oclock angles finding the round sac(gland) and squeezing them towards the outside, should be brown to black discharge.

if red...infected, it could be horribly smelly.

the discharge can shoot across the room, so use paper towels in front of the anus while you work the expression.

when money permits get away from the pedigree and get your baby some eukaneuba. my pit loved the stuff and alot of the biggest kennels for breeding recommend it as well.

i know moneys tight from your other thread is only why i said when money permits. also if eukaneuba isnt in your budget nutro brand foods are pretty good as well.

Update: I "EXPRESSED" his anal glands doing the method David wrote, and I also watched that youtube vid (also very helpful) and a ton of the stinkiest,nastiest fluid came out, but so did plenty of blood. I called the vet, and they were honest and said for me to keep doing what im doing 3-4 times a day, and by monday, if the blood isn't gone, then I would need to bring him in. He has an infection in the gland, but doing what im doing will help him greatly. Now I just need to hope/pray that the blood will stop! I can tell just from the first "gland sqeeze" that he feels better. So hopefully that is a sign. Thanks again everyone, you were all extremely helpful.
