Running Power Wire Under The Car

Recommended Posts

Actually....yes two fuses are in order. Remember that you ALSO have batteries in the back and that a fuse must not be too far away from a battery (within 18 inches).

So let's say you have a fuse about a foot away from the battery under your hood. What happens if the wire is pinched under the vehicle (assuming that the cables are routed under) and touches the body? Well the fuse under the hood makes sure that more than a certain amount of current doesn't come from THAT battery. But what about the batteries in the back? Current can also flow from THAT direction too and your car will STILL go up in flames.

So things should look a little like this

[FRONT BATTERY]---{FUSE}=============================fully protected wire===================================={FUSE}---[bACK BATTERIES]

makes sense sean?....sorry for the lecture. lol

WTF???

How can you say that? If you have a wire coming from your battery and a fuse within 18" from it, running though-out your ride and it touch any (grounded surface) metal... no matter what, you will blow your fuse, which will cause no power to anything within that run of wire. It DOESN'T allow a certain amount of current to travel though it... then why do we fuse shit?

Now about connecting to another battery in back, yes another fuse within 18" from that as well, to prevent shorting out from the other direction.

Why would you dredge this back up??

His point was made in the assumption that a second battery was in use. There's no use in restating things already said in this thread. Besides, you agreed with him anyway.

A couple links to some box builds:

Tahoe Box 1, Tahoe Box 2, Nissan Titan, VW GTI,

Mini-Bump, Hummer H2, Ford F-150

My own car builds (current setup --- under construction):

Overall Thread, Kickpods, Dash, Back Doors

Subwoofer Wall

Dude, you're saying the EXACT same thing I said.
