There are pros and cons to running 1 big amp.

Yes it's easier to wire up and run. Yes it takes less space.

However, things can go wrong. It's easier to replace 1 amp out of a group and still have a semi working system, then it is to wait for the one to be repaired.

Draw wise, the 8.1 and 4 HF-2500's would be about the same. On a daily system I would suggest 4 amps over the one 8.1

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

The major reason, (and I can speak with plenty of experience on this) is god forbid you have to send an amp out for repair. It sucks ass to be without beat or have to miss comps because you have nothing. At least with a group of amps, chances are you can still have tunes and or get points at shows.

Nothing sucks more then driving home from a show or comp without tunes because your having issues.

I would say multiple amps, run each at 1ohm or higher, less amp draw and a little more head room.. It is easier for a amp to run just one speaker at 1 ohm, than four speakers wired at 1 ohm. I believe that you can hear a Dynamic difference..

I'm running one amp at 2ohm currently and hope to be running 2 each at 1ohm soon..

What I have learned with big power is, if you can do it, Get as much if not more alternator to match your amp draw that way your not playing of your Batteries. This will also keep your volts up and more watts. For every day use this is nice.

And it is easy to tell, you know your resting voltage of your batts, if your voltage goes lower than that you are using all alternator power plus also pulling from your batts.

Example: 1 stetsom 7K2d at 2 ohms, Batts resting at 13.1

Exp1...1- 250amp mechman + 1-stock 60-80 alt on music Voltage drops to 12.9 volts....pulling off balteries..

EXP2- 2-250 amp mechman + 1- stock 60-80 alt on music Voltage drops to 14.1 vollts, more watts and more dynamic beats...

Burps

EXP1 I didn't even bother

EXP2- at 2-0hm voltage 13.3

at 1/2-ohm voltage dropped to 11.1.. where I stopped testing before bad shit happened..

With the voltage drop abusing the amp at 1/2 is not even worth it untill I get my third mechman hooked up, the power gain is minimum...
