Double Baffle Vs. Flush Mounting

Both will add structural strength to it. Doubling should add a little more strength, but as long as the majority of the baffle is doubled, it's going to be a lot stronger.

flush mounting the subs doesnt add strength, its just for a clean look. the double baffle will add a lot of strength though.

Reread steves build on his current box. He talks about flush mounting and strength.

Thats wrong, Flush mounting = double baffle which in turn is just as strong and cleaner than a double baffle.

flush mounting does add strength to the baffle, the only difference strength wise is the subs have less wood to be screwed/bolted into, but with the extra wood around it, it will not flex so its not a problem. Both virtually do the same thing except flush mounting looks a lot better.

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB

Sub Amp:American Bass VFL 500.1

Subs: 4 Fi BL 18's

Enclosure:21.5 Cubic foot flat wall tuned to 40 hz

Batteries: 3 Kinetik 2400's in the back, Kinetik 1200 under hood.

Mids & Highs: 4 Kicker DS 6.5 coax in doors, 2 Kicker DS coax in pillars

Highs Amp: Kicker kx250.2, kx100.2

Wire: 4 Runs 1/0 gauge Knukonceptz

BINGO. Also, if your sub can strip out 8 screws at a time from 3/4" MDF then you should be quad baffling that bitch! The ring where the woofer is mounted is the only point of "weakness", & I wouldn't even call it that.
